The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday urged India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation amid escalating tensions between the two South Asian nations.
India launched military strikes on targets in Pakistan early on Wednesday morning which met strong response from Pakistan. The Chinese ministry said in a statement it regrets India's military action and is concerned about the current situation.
"India and Pakistan are and will always be each other's neighbors. They're both China's neighbors as well," the ministry said in a statement.
Noting China opposes all forms of terrorism, the Chinese side urged both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability and remain calm.
