Rare corsac foxes spotted foraging in north China

CGTN

01:05

Rare corsac foxes were spotted foraging on a grassland in Ergun City of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Corsac foxes rarely move in pairs. The pair video-taped consists of a male and a female. They are likely a new couple.

Corsac fox was listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 2008 and as species of least concern in 2014 after an assessment. The animal generally measures 50 to 60 centimeters in the length and weighs about 2 to 3 kilograms, making it the smallest fox species in China.

It inhabits grasslands, deserts and semi-deserts, feeding mainly on rodents.
